Siem Reap is the gateway to Cambodia's spiritual and cultural heart and the amazing Temple of Angkor – “Angkor Wat”.Siem Reap means “Siamese defeated” hardly the most tactful name for a major city near Thailand. Around center of Siem Reap remains a charming town still with rural qualities. The gold rush of recent years continue unabated in the Siem Reap with improved access the many temples (WATS), new Hotels and Guesthouse going up every month. There are new and improved restaurants and bars appearing every week. Tourism has become life blood of Siem Reap which is encouraging the economy within the surrounding area offering much to many Cambodians who have struggled to exist. If this is your first time to the gateway to the Temples, you should hire a qualified guide to protect your interests and ensure to do not miss out on any of the many interests here. Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh is the capital of Cambodia and undoubtedly one of the most splendid Cities in Asia. After many years of neglect, Phnom Penh at last now seems to be on the move towards improvement. If it can learn from the mistakes of its larger neighbor, this city can once again become the “Pearl of Asia”. Legend has it that the City of Phnom Penh was founded when an old woman named Phnom found four Buddha images that had come to rest on the banks of the Mekong River. In her wisdom she housed them on the hill which inspired the town rise up here and come to be known as Phnom Penh from the translation of “Hill of Penh”. Today Phnom Penh has grown to become the capital and trading center of Cambodia. Phnom Penh is also second tourist destination. After visiting the amazing temples, museums and trade development schools surrounding Siem Reap tourists and travelers alike will enjoy the many historical sites such as Killing Fields, genocide historical sites, national museum, Phnom Penh hill, the Royal Palace and other sites of interest.
